What does the Anglia English language proficiency certificate test?

The Anglia English proficiency test certificate (Proficiency exam) is mapped to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference and is an AIM Level 2 qualification on the UK National Qualifications Framework. This level of English tests coherent presentation skills and use of language flexibly and effectively are hallmarks of candidates at this level. English language testing at this level means that the test taker is measured on the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking (optional).

A candidate at this English level will have a language ability enabling them to understand a wide range of vocabulary and express ideas spontaneously and with fluency. English speakers at the Anglia proficiency level are typically able to produce well-structured and complex text suitable for use in education institutions. Language assessment tested at level includes:

evidence of wide vocabulary
evidence of control of structures and organisation of language
collocation - not just individual words
control of style and idiom
differentiation of style, variety and tone when necessary

Performance Indicators

The student has a sufficiently extensive active vocabulary and structural understanding to:

write clear, organised text on descriptive, narrative, or discursive topics, including giving opinion and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of a given issue
write contrasting forms of correspondence - formal and informal
read and respond to a longer text on any topic, concrete or abstract
provide an accurate summary of a text or an aspect of the text
use language to perform any function likely to arise in a normal social or learning context
manipulate structures to create emphasis, and vary style and idiom
listen and respond accurately to passages and questions in a variety of forms and contexts, delivered at a normal speaking pace.

Technology has had a huge impact on the education system in recent years. Outline the advantages and disadvantages of these changes in your country.

Several decades ago, it would have been impossible for children to imagine a large touch-screen display at the front of their class. Nowadays, schools all around the world use technology. We have laptops, phones and smartboards which we use during lessons. In my country, education has certainly changed becasue of technology. The question is, is this in a good or a bad way?

The internet has many incredible features to offer us- a source of an infinite amount of information but this isn't always a good thing. We no longer need books since we have internet and consequently we become addicted and become too dependent on technology. As a result, if we have an electrical problem, then we are helpless. Books will always be available, and in this way are far more reliable than fancy technology. Technology has another unreliable aspect, since anyone can post information on the internet. As a result, there is a lot of fake news articles and websites giving incorrect and false information to children, who believe it and continue the spread of fake news.We lose the ability of critical thinking and become over-reliable on the internet.

Another consequence of the new technological in education is that we don't learn as well from technology as we do from books. It has been scientifically proven that when you learn by writing things down on paper, you retain it far longer than any form of learning on computers or other devices.

On the other hand, with technology, instead of spending hours looking up information in books for an essay, you can google it and have a million facts in seconds. This can save you a lot of time and effort, which allows teachers to continue with a new topic faster.

To conclude, technology has both its upsides and its negative points. It can save time, but we rely on the internet too much and it can limit our ability to study. However, it is certainly true that it has impacted on our education system, so we must find a way to balance the old and the new and to take the best from both .
